Legion Launches 3D Crowd Animation Service
March 2008
Legion has launched a new service for animating realistic pedestrian and crowd movement within a 3D environment. The service, based on Legion’s leading pedestrian simulation software, will support building designers in their efforts to get clients and the public to support proposed designs.
The service takes a designer’s 3D model of a building or urban environment and then adds realistic animated crowds. Whether it is two or 20,000 people moving through a scene, it will give clients, the public and planners an even better understanding of how a proposed development will be used and the impact it will have.

"When it comes to selling and communicating a proposed development, 3D animated ‘fly-throughs’ are now almost uniformly expected."
says Miller Crockart, Head of Business Development at Legion. He goes on to say:
"However, until now putting realistically moving people, especially crowds in a 3D animated building or scene, has been technically challenging, time consuming and costly. With this new service we are able to draw on our own pedestrian simulation expertise to offer designers the ability to quickly, simply, and cost-effectively populate their models with realistic crowds. This will enable their clients and the public to more easily visualise how a proposed building will perform."
